On Thursday August 4, approximately 135 pigs were seized by the sheriff’s department from a property in Polk county Florida, after an undercover investigation by PETA revealed neglect and suffering of a heartbreaking level. There is a hearing Monday, August 15 to determine the official status of the pigs and begin the process of finding out how many potbellied, farm and feral pigs there are, their ages and immediate needs. The next step is a massive effort to get them networked, vetted, transported, and in foster or adoptive homes as quickly as possible, because they are at a temporary facility. The entire pig community is pulling together to help these pigs, and we want to do all we can to facilitate a happy ending for each and every one of them.
We launched a t-shirt campaign that allows you to show your support for the Polk Pigs, and 100% of the proceeds from these shirts and any donations are going directly to cover their needs. We will update as we know more about what you can do to help!
