On August 9, 2016 news broke that PETA and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office seized close to 200 animals from Darlynn’s Darlins Rescue Ranch in Polk City, FL. While the court system went through the process of stripping the owners of Darlynn’s Darlins of all ownership rights and future animal ownership rights, the Polk County Sheriff Agriculture unit cares for the animals, mostly pigs. After the court decision was made giving the animals to the county, the PCSO signed over ownership of all the pigs to Pig Advocates League on 9/19/2016 with the understanding they would all be moved to Rooterville for vetting, staging, and adoption. The morning of 9/20/2016, a Rooterville trailer along with 3 PCSO trailers transported all of the Darlynn’s Darlins pigs to what would be the first day of their new lives where they would never have to worry about lack of food, medical care, or overall neglect again. To date, many have found permanent forever homes and others are still looking for homes or a sponsor at Rooterville.
